Thank you all so much for coming with me on this new journey! I think this is the part where I’m supposed to tell you that you’re in good hands with Pretty magazine because the editor-in-chief is an expert on fashion, beauty, decorating, gardening, baking, cooking, food styling, and dozens of other things that will make your life more amazing. And aren’t you just so lucky to have such an expert to guide you along on your path to fabulousness?

But here’s the truth: I have no idea what I’m doing! Okay, I have some idea. I’ve been writing for magazines for a long time, so I feel pretty confident that I can write informative, helpful, fun articles you’ll enjoy. But I’ve always been just a writer–not a designer, photographer, advertising exec, or any of the other positions on big magazine mastheads. So stepping into those roles is really new and really scary for me. There have been nights I’ve woken up in a cold sweat, inwardly screaming at myself, “What were you thinking?!”

But hey, the website is finally up! And I appreciate your patience as I get all the clickables clicking.

The point of Pretty is simply to provide a place where you can enjoy some beautiful content and get a few ideas to make your own life a little bit prettier. I don’t claim to have it all figured out; I’m not one of those lucky women who comes into the world with DNA that tells her how to style an outfit. I have to ask my friends-in-the-know how to arrange my furniture, or do something with my hair, or help me not kill a plant.

And don’t you just love having friends like that?

I hope you’ll think of Pretty as your new, stylish friend who really is great at “all the things.” Because while I may not have the answers myself, being an editor gives me access to the people who do, and then I can share the answers with you, and together, we can make our lives just a bit more beautiful.
